Pre-Surgical Rehab

It is often helpful to bring your pet for an evaluation and a few treatment visits prior to surgery to acclimate your pet to our facility and equipment. Some pets may benefit from weight loss and conditioning for a few months prior to surgery. We would be happy to speak with your surgeon about this and develop a plan. We will also educate you about what you can do for your pet at home, and make sure you have time to practice this in the clinic. We may also have supplement and nutrition recommendations.

Post-Surgical Rehab

We will develop a specific plan for your pet with appropriate progression based on your surgeon’s recommendations  and your pet’s response to rehabilitation. Each surgical procedure has specific precautions and therefore we don’t treat each pet the same. We will also educate you in what you can do for your pet at home, and make sure you have time to practice this in the clinic. We may also have pain medicine, supplement and nutrition recommendations. Post-Injury Rehab

We will evaluate your pet’s functional limitations and develop a specific plan for treatments incorporating pain control and home exercises. Pain control methods can include medication, massage, ice and acupuncture. We will progress the program based on how your pet responds and make sure you have time in the clinic to practice your home exercises. We may also have supplement and nutrition recommendations. Neurological Rehab

We will evaluate your pet’s functional limitations and develop a specific plan for treatments in the clinic. Your pet may have had surgery or perhaps the neurologist did not recommend surgery, but either way, we will progress your pet safely based on their progress. Depending on the severity of your pet’s impairments, we may recommend that they board at our clinic for more intensive, daily rehabilitation. Some pets come to us unable to walk or move any of their legs, while others have their rear legs affected but can support themselves with their front legs. Your pet may need some adaptive equipment to walk, such as a cart. This can be a short or long term solution depending on their needs.Back to top.

Wellness and Weight Loss Programs

The goal for this program is to provide an exercise program in a safe environment to complement the nutritional and medical care your pet is receiving. As dogs age or become sedentary, they can gain weight and lose mobility. Weight gain is reversible in most cases with progressive exercise. Our equipment allows us to provide activities that are more intensive than you will be able to provide with daily walks. We can help increase your pet’s fitness level and restore mobility. The program will be strictly monitored by our veterinarian for your pet’s tolerance. The primary means of exercise in this program may be the underwater treadmill. Back to top.

Arthritis Program/Geriatric

The goal for this program is to manage the common ailments associated with older pets such as arthritis, weight gain and neurological impairments. We can restore mobility, reduce pain and increase fitness levels with a gentle, progressive exercise program. Our equipment allows us to provide activities that are more intensive than you will be able to provide with daily walks. Our veterinarian can help the pain of arthritis with acupuncture, supplements and pain medicine (if necessary). The underwater treadmill is especially helpful with these pets because the water helps to decrease the impact on the joints so they can walk and exercise with less pain. Back to top.

Pain Management Programs

The goal of this program is to assist in pain control associated with varying ailments. These can include cancer, arthritis, neurological impairment, or spinal disease. We can provide relief through exercise, supplements, pain medicine, massage and acupuncture. We will work closely with you to determine the best course of action for your pet. The underwater treadmill is especially helpful with these pets because the water helps to decrease the impact on the joints so your pet can walk and exercise with less pain. Back to top.

Adaptive Equipment

Your pet may need some specialized equipment during the rehabilitation process for short term use, or it may be a permanent part of your pet’s life after rehabilitation. This includes splints, orthotics, prosthetic limbs, or walking carts. We will work closely with you to determine the best solution for your pet.
